Tattoo Removal with the Medlite Laser System
Decorative tattoos have a history dating back at least 5000 years. The desire to remove them has probably existed just as long. Early attempts to remove tattoos have had less than desirable results. The use of dermabrasion, salabrasion and Argon or C02 lasers have left behind scars in place of the tattoo.
The advent of Q-Switched lasers has permitted the removal of most tattoo inks with a very low risk of scarring. The Medlite Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser is the newest system in this class of lasers. The Medlite can significantly lighten or remove many tattoo inks, and is particularly advanced in the removal of blue, black and red inks.
The laser removes tattoo ink with the energy of light. The colors of ink in the tattoo absorb the light from the laser causing the ink in the tattoo to destruct. The laser light is delivered in very short, high intensity pulses for maximum ink destruction. Rapidly pulsed light along with a specific combination of laser wavelength result in minimal damage to the skin.
The number of treatments needed to remove a tattoo can vary from 5 - 20 treatments depending on the size and color of the tattoo. The duration of each treatment is typically 2 - 5 minutes per treatment with a healing time of 10 - 21 days after each treatment. Local anesthetic may be used prior to treatment.Download Laser Tattoo Removal Brochure
